How to Embed a Timer in Notion

Notion does not run pasted HTML, so you embed the timer by link: copy the "Link" from the ClockAura Embed Builder, type /embed on your Notion page, paste the link and click "Embed link". Then drag the block to the size you want.

Steps

  1. In the Embed Builder, set up your timer (a Pomodoro is a popular choice for Notion study dashboards) and open the Link tab.
  2. Click Copy code to copy the widget link.
  3. In Notion, click where the timer should go and type /embed, then press Enter.
  4. Paste the link and click Embed link.
  5. Drag the bottom-right corner of the block to resize it. About 280 pixels tall fits a Pomodoro.

Things to know about Notion embeds

The timer runs while the Notion page is open. If you leave the page, Notion unloads the embed and the timer stops, so keep the page open in its own tab during a session.

Notion keeps the link, not your settings: every option is stored inside the link itself. To change the timer, make a new link in the builder and replace the embed.

The Notion desktop app and the browser both show the timer. On phones, Notion shows embeds as well, but small screens fit a Clock or Timer better than a full Pomodoro.

Credit

Notion cannot hold the credit link under the timer, so the small ClockAura mark inside the widget is the credit. If you share the page publicly, a normal text link to the tool you used is appreciated.

Can I paste HTML embed code into Notion?

No. Notion only embeds links. Use the Link tab in the ClockAura Embed Builder and paste it into a /embed block.

Does the Notion Pomodoro timer switch to breaks on its own?

Yes. When a focus block ends it beeps and starts the break, then the next focus block, with a longer break after four rounds.

Why did my Notion timer reset?

Notion reloads embeds when you leave and come back to a page. Keep the page open in its own tab while the timer runs.
